Red Hot Nature

Happily ever after...well, not always! But when you have your best friend to share every day with, how can life not always be great? By focusing all our energy on each other, we're creating a marriage that will last through the eternities. We have created this blog to share our lives with our family, friends, and the future family we'll create together. "Marriage is a gift from God to us. The quality of our marriages is a gift from us to him." ~Elder L. Whitney Clayton

Morning Cuddle Time

Most days when Zach leaves for work, he leaves before I do and sadly enough, is usually out the door before I roll out of bed. Hey, don't judge, I'm not a morning person in any way, shape or form.  He usually just comes over and gives me a hug and a kiss while I'm still laying in bed and tells me he loves me before walking out our adjacent back door into the garage.

But then, there are those days, like today, when instead of just giving me a hug and a kiss before leaving, he gets ready and then crawls into bed next to me and cuddles me for a few minutes.  I was totally out of it today too, so it surprised me when I felt him getting into bed on well, not "his" side.  I was awake enough to realize he was already fully dressed, so of course I say, "You better have clean clothes on for work today because if you're in this bed of clean sheets with your dirty, ranch clothes...I will cut you!"  He just laughed and said, "Yeah, I've worn these clothes for a week!"  Then I enjoyed my few minutes of cuddle time before he had to leave and I actually had to drag myself out of bed.  What a blessing those little moments are in life! Sure do love my hubby!

Tara's Birthday

Today is wonderful Miss Tara Smith's birthday. She is my awesome co-worker at Ancestry. I was invited to go to lunch with her team aka my old team that Gary "kicked us out of" at Rubio's. Since my super awesome boss, Lori, is home and hopped up on pain meds, we took this cute pic to send to her. The birthday girls! Tara today. Me tomorrow. Yay!!

Tara thinks getting mail is a "lost art." So when Lori and I were listening to her tell us about it being kind of fun and special to get something in the mail these days, we each decided to mail her a birthday card as a surprise. Mission accomplished. She was!

Date Night

We try to go out once a week and have a date night. It keeps us sane and doing fun things with each other. Friday night we went to Texas Roadhouse and mini golfing at Seven Peaks Fun Center in Orem. I was behind Zach by like eight strokes the first game and I came back and win by three. He bet me double or nothing he would win on the next course. I won't say what we bet, but I will say that it was well worth my double win!! I was up by a lot most of the game then he came back one stroke at a time on each hole until we were tied. I slowly went downhill and got down by two strokes. The last hole eats your ball and I was still down by two so I challenged him that whoever got it in the "real hole" and not the one that it rolls back into to eat your ball, wins. He said that he would try eight times and if he didn't get it then I could have my six (because I was already down by two). I kept catching his ball from going in the hole. He never did make it in his eight tries. Then, it was my turn. I stepped up to the putting green, confident as ever. Sunk it!! First try and I got it in. It was epic! Zach couldn't believe my skills. I was laughing so hard, and if course gloating. It's always fun to get out for a night and...it's always fun when I win! I have a good hubby who was a good sport about it though. He even took me out to dinner again the next night. He was looking so handsome I just had to snap a photo and try my new photo app. Cost me 99 cents and it was worth every penny!

Mom's 50th/Half Century Birthday Party

My mom turned 50 on May 29, 2013.  My siblings and I threw her a party.  Grandma Jewkes and Grandma Jones and Aunt Jamee all helped by bringing a snack dish to serve at the party.  We just had it at the jr. high in Ferron.  We had a chocolate fountain with fruit and other things to dip under the fountain.  We attempted karaoke, but since Casey and Megan weren't there to get everyone to participate, it was kind of a bust.  Jane and Maribelle also came.  Jewkes grandparents, Jones grandparents, our family, Jamee, Maegan, Kara, Jaxton and Brinley all showed up with Jason and Jessie and Shaylee and Bronx and Payton coming after the missionaries left their house for dinner.  Shawn and Becky and Jessee and Lexee were having fun at a bees game trying to have some fun before all of Lexee's surgeries.  Poor thing!

We made signs and decorated the tables a little bit. Jamee gave mom a nighty shirt that said "I'm not 50, I'm just 26 with 24 years experience." Tayler gave her some really funny gifts like a box of kleenexes to "puff up" her sagging breasts. We had some good laughs at her gifts.  For her real gift, us kids and dad gave her plants to re-landscape her front yard. I wanted to have mom take a picture with a sign saying, "THIS is what 50 looks like!" But in all the frantic-ness of being the main party planner, I totally forgot.  All in all, it was pretty fun!
The veggies one says underneath it "grown in dirt Stacey is older than"

We put this sign on the door coming into the school!

The main table. I forgot to take pics of the other ones. Nothing too fancy. We tried to keep it on a budget for all of us poor people trying to save money! :)

We also went to Jason and Jessie's new baby's blessing on Sunday. Little Bronx! Kara and Rob were there with Jaxton. He was playing "football" with us.  You'd say, "Jax...Ready...Set...HIKE!" And he'd run at you and push you down (of course, I was sitting down because he's only 2). What a cute little guy!  We took this picture while having lots of fun at the luncheon they had at the pavillion at the rodeo grounds.
